The Background Daemon runs Sixth as a background process on your machine, so your Telegram bot stays connected and can receive and work on coding tasks even when VS Code is closed.

Turning it on

  1. Set up the Telegram Relay first.
  2. Open Sixth Settings → Integrations and find Background Daemon.
  3. Turn on Run background daemon.
When it’s running, the status reads Daemon Active with its process ID (“PID … — listening for messages”). Turn the toggle off to stop it.

Requirements

The daemon runs on your system’s Node.js (not the copy bundled inside VS Code), so Node.js must be installed and available on your PATH.

Good to know

  • The daemon runs on your machine. Your computer has to be on and awake for it to pick up messages.
  • Its process files live in the .sixth folder in your home directory.
