# Interactive Planning

Interactive Planning shows Sixth's plan as an interactive flowchart **before** any code is written. You can see every step, choose between alternative approaches, and approve the plan, so Sixth doesn't head off in the wrong direction. It's powered by Overture.

## Turning it on

Open Sixth **Settings → Integrations** and turn on **Enable Interactive Planning**. When it's ready, the status reads **Planning Active**.

## Using it

Start your message with `/interactive-planning`, followed by what you want to build:

```
/interactive-planning Add Stripe checkout to the pricing page
```

Sixth opens the **Interactive Planning** panel in the editor and builds a visual plan there:

* Each step of the work is a node in the flowchart, with a title and description.
* Where there's more than one sensible way to do something, the plan branches into options, each with pros, cons and complexity. You pick which one Sixth should take.
* Steps that need input from you (such as API keys or preferences) are part of the plan, so you can provide them up front.

Review the plan and approve it. Sixth then works through it **one step at a time**, and each node's status updates live in the panel as it's executed, completed or fails.

## During and after execution

* **Pause:** you can pause execution from the panel. Sixth checks before starting each step.
* **Resume:** a paused or failed plan can be picked up where it left off.
* **Re-run:** after the plan finishes, you can ask to re-run steps from the panel.
* **Change the plan:** ask Sixth in the chat to change the plan, and it updates the existing flowchart instead of starting over.

## When to use it

Interactive Planning works best for multi-step work: new features that touch several files, architecture decisions you want a say in, or anything where agreeing on the approach first saves rework. For quick questions, small single-file edits and obvious bug fixes, a normal message is faster.

<Tip>
  Want a written plan instead of a flowchart? Use [Plan mode](/features/plan-and-act) or the `/deep-planning` slash command.
